the poetry of presence
a two-hour Writing Life women’s writing circle

Thursday, June 3, 2021
10 a.m. to 12 noon Pacific Time

The Writing Life women’s writing circle is an opportunity to meet with old friends and make new ones and to be present with “what is.” It can feel like a miracle to set out to write, your destination unknown, and make discoveries along the way. The writing circle will be a way to keep us grounded and present as we approach summer’s lack of the usual  routines and in the midst of ongoing shifts and changes. From the practice of keeping a journal to reading and writing poems as portals into presence, you will find nourishment and encouragement along the way. No previous writing experience is necessary.

the intent of the Writing Life writing circle :

  • To provide a safe place for women to tell their stories.
  • To find the still centre of ourselves and of the circle.
  • To write what has heart and meaning for us.
  • To realize our role as leaders in a circle of leaders.
  • To remember the divine feminine and embrace our female and male teachers.
  • To becoming a community of peers slowing down to a natural rhythm.

mary ann moore:

I bring my passion for poetry and for writing as a spiritual practice to the Writing Life women’s writing circles I offer.  Poetry is part of all of them as it offers a doorway in and a welcome home.  Practices in the circle help to root us in the present. Memories recalled are integrated into the here and now. We plant seeds of self-compassion along the way, so we may learn to love the evolving parts of ourselves. Come and open to the gifts of writing in community and a return to “a sense of reunion” with yourself.

Mary Ann’s wisdom and gentle guiding opened the group’s creative heart. Before we knew what happened, she had us writing our own poetry. In the stillness, reading inspirational poetry, and nudging us to explore, we wrote as if ”packing for our future.” Encouraged to share our creations, powerfully insightful poems unfolded. Mary Ann Moore’s love of poetry sparked our creative spirits.
